Maximum Savings Bank, Inc. (MAXBANK) opens its one of a kind, 400-square meter branch-lite unit at the Bonifacio Global City to expand its banking services to a wider market in Metro Manila.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ branch-lite concept was expanded from what was then known as other-banking offices (OBOs) or microfinance banking offices (MBOs), which was, in turn, conceptualized to entice banks to expand access points to serve the unbanked. The MAXBANK BGC branch-lite aims to offer easier, simpler, and faster services minus the stringent requirements compared to a traditional bank. This move is also to align its brand with the financial inclusion advocacy of the BSP.

MAXBANK was originally designed to serve the low-income households as part of efforts to bring more Filipinos onto the formal banking system.

With the entry of new investors in 2018, MAXBANK’s new direction is also to cater to the more sophisticated local and international market requiring a more diversified menu of banking services -anytime, anywhere. The eventual transformation of MAXBANK is to become a digital bank.

The first step toward this digital transformation is the adaption of the QR Payment System made available through MAXBANK’s WeChat Pay facility. The immediate benefit of this service can be seen in our WeChat Pay Partner-Merchants reporting an increase of around 40% in sales. We are confident that these promising numbers will convince more than 1,000 merchants to engage with us within the next quarter, and up to 3,000 merchants by the end of the year.

The concept of Maxbank’s BGC branch is to provide a unique banking experience that is welcoming and comfortable for all its clients. With its modern and friendly customer lounge, you can wait for your turn while enjoying a nice cup of freshly brewed coffee.

MAXBANK was incorporated in July 2005 and was granted authority by the BSP in February 2006. In 2017, the BSP approved the conversion of the Bank to a full-fledged thrift bank. MAXBANK’s head office is located in P. Burgos, Batangas City with branches located in Sabang, Puerto Galera, and Calapan City.
